This week on the blog I will be talking about my week in Barcelona with Diana. We went in December on a bit of a whim when my husband Alex had to be there for work and we saw how inexpensive flights were. Before I get into a full trip recap, I want to share a travel-friendly outfit post that won’t leave you looking like a tourist.

The sage traveler wisdom is to pack layers and that is definitely true! They allow you to make multiple outfits from fewer pieces, keep you warm, and prepared for changes in the weather forecast. While Spain in December is much warmer than New York, it was still cold with temperatures fluctuating during the day. Barcelona is a hilly city so I was grateful to be able to shed this quilted coat when walking around. This jewel-color button up is one of the oldest pieces in my wardrobe and still a year-round favorite. It looks great with capris in the summer or under a sweater in the winter. My suede boots were a must for the trip because they are light, packable, and add some warmth to the outfit.

If you haven’t caught on by now, I have a fairly low tolerance for being cold. The irony is that I grew up in Michigan and went to college upstate New York – so it isn’t as if I’m thin-blooded! Living in arctic northern climates my whole life has taught me a few things about dressing for whatever Mother Nature has in store. Light-weight, wrinkle-resistant layers are my best tip for traveling in cooler months.

This week I will be sharing a full recap of our trip including a Barcelona city guide for art lovers. I hope you enjoy!
