Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you! Today I am sharing my all time favorite wardrobe item – this pink bow coat. I splurged on it in college and have been in love ever since.
When I first laid eyes on this beauty it was one of those moments where I felt like the garment was tailor-made for me. The color and bow are unabashedly feminine while the cut is timeless and sophisticated. It makes the fall / winter transition much easier to bear when I get to break out this gem at the first signs of frosty weather. This piece kicked off my obsession with statement outerwear and I’ve linked below to some of my favorite coats out this season. Let me tell you there is nothing like being excited about your jacket to get you through the deep winter slog.
Although we live in New York now, Alex and I grew up in the same small town in Michigan. These pictures were taken in Detroit while out to dinner with friends over the holidays.
One of my tactics for scouting great locations for blog photos is to follow local wedding photographers on Instagram. These pros find all the best backdrops – like this charming pastel waterfall mural, completed in 2011 by Michigan native Katie Craig.
The street art scene in Detroit is worth all of the buzz it has been getting. As someone who spent many high school summers volunteering in the city, seeing the artistic renaissance downtown is inspiring. If you ever get a chance to visit my hometown, be sure to take a drive downtown – particularly in the southwest part of the city – to see the many incredible, building-spanning murals.
I hope today each of you are finding a way to express your love for the most important people in your life! Alex and I will be taking it easy today as we just got back from a fun-filled long weekend in Miami (more on that later this week), so today I will be pouring all of my love into our kitten, Grace Kelly.
