Spring has arrived in New York! It’s such a wonderful time in the city when you can eat outside before it gets too hot and everything starts to smell like garbage – realities of urban living! I spotted this row of blooming beauties on Instagram and recognized it as the park near my apartment so I made sure to snap these pics before they fell. By the time Alex returned from a business trip a few days later and we went for a walk the trees were bare!
Those of you with a sharp eye may recognize that this outfit includes a dress I bought for my winter trip to Miami. So often I get excited about buying new clothes for special occasions like vacations and weddings only to find I then struggle with what to wear to the office every day. I have been more conscious about buying pieces that have potential for day-to-day wear and this dress is a great example. While at first glance it certainly doesn’t say “office friendly,” with a favorite navy sweater layered on top it suddenly becomes a perfectly professional springy look.
I felt that the fashion world had smiled on me when longer hemlines came into style. At 5 feet, 8 inches I am constantly debating if a dress is just a bit too mini for the office. I definitely have my eyes out for more pieces like that can carry me through different life events and – ever a challenge – New York’s fluctuating weather.
