Last week Alex and I went on a long weekend to Miami, Florida. Neither of us had been before but with the bustling art scene, amazing hotels, and – the biggest draw – pristine beach weather, it was high on my list! With our pending trip it seemed I finally had a reason to splurge on this beautiful scalloped swimsuit.
Since high school I have purchased two – yes, only two – swimsuits. I bought both of them for my honeymoon and have worn them for every bathing suit occasion since. I rarely feel drawn to any swimwear I see and when I have they are almost always a one piece. To me all bikinis look mind-numbingly similar and are so microscopic that there is no room for any thoughtful design. I was first turned onto Marysia swim a few years ago. I immediately fell in love with their feminine scallop designs and tasteful cuts. When they updated their covetable Palm Springs style to include a chic lace-up detail, I was ready to take the plunge!
I lived in this suit our whole trip and received many compliments. As I am on the paler side, the white did a lot to bring out the little bronze I was able to gather during our time there. I recommend sizing down if you order any Marysia swimwear online. I was surprised when I ended up buying both pieces in a size extra small. In general, I am usually between an extra small and a small depending on the brand.
During our weekend in Miami Beach we stayed at The Raleigh hotel. A beautiful art deco resort with a sprawling pool, great food, amazing service, and beach access. The outdoor restaurant has the most beautiful old trees that create a canopy over the bar area – it felt like we were in the tropics. Our room had a relaxing minimal aesthetic with rattan furniture, a lush white orchid plant, and a touch of the hotel’s signature coral color. All the better to showcase the stunning ocean view (hopefully you caught it on my Instagram stories). I couldn’t recommend it enough and I would not hesitate to stay there again on my next trip.
